Lucy's Story
After Lucy McBath’s son, Jordan, was shot and killed in 2012, she became a leading gun safety advocate and has dedicated her life to creating change that will make our communities safer and better. A former Delta flight attendant for 30 years, she understands the needs of working people and is committed to fighting every day for Georgia families.

Lucy knows that she and her neighbors in Georgia’s sixth district need someone who will stick up for them in Washington, D.C. Since Representative Karen Handel isn’t going to, Lucy is determined to do it.

Rep. Handel’s policies and voting record have done plenty to help special interests at the expense of working Georgians. She’s prioritized repealing Obamacare and restricting women’s health care options. She’s repeatedly opposed common-sense gun safety laws, satisfying her NRA donors at the expense of our safety.

For a working mom like Lucy, Handel’s policies won’t cut it. Lucy believes in improving the Affordable Care Act, lowering the age of Medicare recipients to 55; and lowering the cost of prescription drugs. She knows that common sense gun safety reform will make our communities safer. She is committed to raising the minimum wage, cutting taxes for the middle class and helping working families-- not the already-rich and powerful.

In Congress, Lucy will work with both parties to do what is right for Georgia’s sixth district.

In 2012, Lucy McBath’s son was shot and killed by a man who objected to the music playing in his car. Following this tragedy, Lucy, a Marietta mom, left her 30-year career as a Delta flight attendant to dedicate her life to ending gun violence.

She's since advocated for common-sense gun laws, like requiring background checks on all gun purchases, and has testified in front of lawmakers in both Washington, DC and Georgia. But still lawmakers do nothing. Now Lucy’s running for Congress because it’s time for action. Lucy will stand up to Donald Trump and the NRA’s dangerous agenda and work to make our communities safer.
